Online Aviation Technology Continuation Training for fixed-wing aircraft maintenance engineers and technical personnel. Covers predictive maintenance, AI, sustainable propulsion, advanced avionics and emerging aircraft technologies, supporting EASA, UK CAA and FAA continuation/recurrent training programmes.
The Aviation Technology – Fixed Wing course provides aircraft maintenance engineers and aviation technical personnel with an understanding of the latest developments in aircraft technology, maintenance practices and aviation safety systems.
As aircraft systems become increasingly sophisticated, maintenance personnel must remain familiar with emerging technologies and their implications for aircraft maintenance, reliability and safety.
This online course examines developments in predictive maintenance, artificial intelligence, sustainable propulsion, avionics, automated inspection techniques and advanced aircraft systems. Real-world aviation case studies demonstrate how technological developments influence maintenance activities and operational safety.
The course has been developed to support the aviation technology element of continuation and recurrent training programmes under EASA, UK CAA and FAA maintenance regulations.
The course comprises six modules:
1. Predictive Maintenance & Data Analytics
Explores the application of big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning to aircraft maintenance, including predictive fault detection, component health monitoring and maintenance planning.
2. Human-Machine Interface Safety
Examines the interaction between mechanical components and digital aircraft systems, including the safety implications of physical failures and unintended system responses. Features a Boeing 787 in-flight upset case study.
3. Sustainable Propulsion & Green Aviation
Covers emerging propulsion technologies, including open-fan engines, hybrid-electric systems, hydrogen propulsion, sustainable aviation fuels and fully electric aircraft.
4. Air Traffic & Flight Safety Systems
Explores developments in radio altimeter interference protection, ACAS X collision avoidance, ADS-B surveillance and next-generation air traffic safety systems.
5. Advanced Ground Operations & Maintenance Infrastructure
Examines airport surface safety technologies, drone-based aircraft inspections, augmented reality maintenance applications and additive manufacturing of aircraft components.
6. Advanced Air Mobility, Unmanned Systems & Flight Controls
Introduces electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, autonomous rotorcraft, advanced flight-control technologies, wing morphing and modern gyroscopic sensor systems.
